Ten Places to Enjoy Nature near Patzcuaro

Here we propose ten anternative ways to enjoy nature near Pátzcuaro.

Experience Lake Pátzcuaro.  Board a boat at one of the piers and visit the different islands and engage the different inhabitants.  Relax!  Take your time, and enjoy nature!

2.  Visit Pacanda Island.  Pacanda is the largest island on the lake, but has only 400 inhabitants, making it one of the most tranquil.

3.  Tour the Lake.  A must-do!  Discover the diverse communities of the Lake Region, while admiring the panoramic views of this legendary lake.

4.  Escape to Lake Zirahuén.  Lake Zirahuén is one of the cleanest lakes in Mexico.  It deep blue color and natural surroundings are simply stunning.

5.  Check Out Estribo Grande.  Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of Pátzcuaro and our lake and take in the pure, fresh air.

6.  Lose Yourself in the Olive Grove of Tzintzuntzan.  This is a mystical and magical place.  Delight yourself amid these ancient trees planted while Don Vasco de Quiroga was in the region.

7.  Tour the Uruapan National Park.  An incredible destination to enjoy nature alongside many fabulous waterfalls produced by the Río Cupatitzio.  One of the best places to enjoy Mexican nature at its most exuberant.

8.  Meet Paricutín Volcano.  This young (1943) volcano is one of the natural wonders of Mexico, and can be experienced in one day.  You can also visit the nearby cathedral in Angahuan, which was half-buried by the eruption of the volcano.  Much of it remains exposed and is accessible.

9.  Experience La Tzaráracua Waterfall.  The din of the falling surge of water (originating from Río Cupatitzio) is both unbelievable and mesmerizing.

10.  Discover Tacámbaro.  The exceptional natural surroundings of this area are puncuated with numerous avocado groves.  A small lake graces this Pueblo Mágico, as does the Parque Ecológico de Cerro Hueco. Tacámbaro is known as “the door to Tierra Caliente.”
