Ten Tips to Enjoy Pátzcuaro – in a Responsible Way

1.  Ponder the benefits you will glean in Pátzcuaro and in the surrounding natural areas with your positive actions.  Plan your visit well, and you will better appreciate your stay in our “Pueblo Mágico”.

2.  Enjoy what our communities have to offer.  Taste the local cuisine and experience traditional Michoacán cuisine and discover the new and exciting flavors that come with it.

3.  Respect the culture and traditions of Pátzcuaro and the outlying areas.  Don’t invade others’ spaces uninvited.

4.  Pátzcuaro is a very calm place, its people are naturally friendly and hospitable.  Follow their lead!

5.  One of the cultural things you can enjoy and take back home is the local folk art, and the Pátzcuaro area has a plethora of it.  Artisan ware is the livelihood of many families.  Buy their goods (directly from them, whenever possible), value their work, and pay what is fair.

6.  Pátzcuaro is a great walking town; use your car as little as possible.  Especially downtown, you will find new streets with recently widened sidewalks.  Take your time to admire the architecture while strolling at your leisure instead of dealing with the headaches of driving.

7.  When you visit our natural attractions, minimize your footprint, try to leave everything as you found it.  Lake Pátzcuaro is in trouble.  We all need to do everything we can to protect it and lessen impacts to it.

8.  We are very proud of our Plaza Vasco de Quiroga and our Plaza Gertrudis Bocanegra.  Use the sidewalks and don’t walk on the grass.

10.  Conserve energy and water.
