Michoacán's Night of the Dead Recognized in the "Best of Mexico Awards 2024"
The traditional Night of the Dead (in November) in Michoacán was recently recognized with the award given by México Desconocido Magazine for the Best of Mexico in the category: "Best Travel Proposal for an Authentic Experience," in what is known as the Tianguis Turístico de México 2024.
Night of the Dead in Michoacan at Patzcuaro Lake Region |
This award confirms the significance
of such a special and important ceremony as the Night of the Dead in
Michoacán, especially in the Lake Pátzcuaro Region.
It is a unique experience. A celebration full of color, tradition, and
mysticism.
If you have the opportunity to live this
experience, it is important to point out that the Night of the Dead for the Purépecha Community is a celebration full of symbolism, an
opportunity to enhance the memory of our loved ones who have passed
away, strengthen community ties, and connect with our roots.
So it is essential that we understand the importance of participating
respectfully and responsibly in this festivity.
Living this tradition with respect implies
recognizing its historical, cultural and spiritual value. It is a way of
preserving the world view of the native peoples, which has been
preserved over the years.
At Hotel Mansion Iturbe in Pátzcuaro,
we celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Let's also remember
that the magic of the Night of the Dead in the Lake Pátzcuaro Region
had already been recognized by UNESCO when it was named Intangible Cultural
Heritage of Humanity. This means that this ancestral tradition not only belongs
to the people of Michoacán, but it is a universal treasure that we
should preserve and be proud of.
If you have the opportunity to live the
magic of the Night of the Dead, come to Pátzcuaro and
the Lake District; we are waiting for you in Michoacán!
