The Monumental Nativity Installation in Pátzcuaro 2022
The Pátzcuaro Nativity Installation is one of the main attractions of our Magical Town during the Christmas season. The lighting of the Christmas tree and the illumination of the season is a moment of joy and conviviality among the people of Patzcuaro.

This year, the lighting took place on Saturday, December 10, an event that our guests enjoyed just across the street from our Hotel Mansión Iturbe in Plaza Vasco de Quiroga.

The Monumental Nativity of
Patzcuaro in 2022, has 60 enormous pieces. Each one of the characters
has been made using elements created by artisans from Michoacán, especially from the Lake Region, using mostly natural fibers.
However, we also find the art of the different regions of Michoacán.
Michoacán handicrafts such as
the masks of Tocuaro or the hats of Jarácuaro are also present, and
let us not forget the extraordinary shawls from Angahuan.

In each piece you will be
able to observe an endless number of details, which will surprise you, and
you will see the skill and imagination of Michoacán artisans.
As every year, the three
kings are very noticeable, especially because of the animals that accompany
them, the elephant which is made of hay, the camel with vegetable fiber
craftsmanship, as well as the cloak of one of the kings.

This year, an illuminated
sphere with hundreds of Christmas lights is one of the main attractions, is and
undoubtedly one of the favorite places for your photo op.

Thousands of spotlights
illuminate the old mansions with their tile roofs that surround the Plaza Vasco
de Quiroga, making them blend into the atmosphere of the Nativity Scene.
Taking a tour of the nativity
scene also transports you to the different regions of Michoacán, as you walk
through the Plaza Vasco de Quiroga.
Seven regions are represented
in the plaza: The coast, “Tierra Caliente,” the Purépecha Plateau, El Bajío,
the Lake Region, the area of the Monarch Butterflies, and Morelia, the state
capital.

The Monumental Nativity Scene
of Pátzcuaro is already a tradition that has been going on for seven
years; however, every year we see new or different variations on the theme.
To complement the nativity
scene, the Christmas tree, decorated with handcrafted figures from the Lake
District, is a must-see.
