Patzcuaro in Summer: A journey through tradition and charm
If you are looking for somewhere to visit during your summer vacations, Patzcuaro is one of the magical towns in Mexico that you can explore. Our Pueblo Mágico has been designated a Magical Town since 2002. In fact, it was the first one in Michoacan.

Patzcuaro is a unique magical town, where magic
and tradition merge to create an unforgettable experience, a very attractive
place for the visitor who wishes to enjoy Mexican culture, history and
traditions.
You will find cobblestone streets, colonial
architecture with adobe houses, tile roofs, balconies and portals, pillars and
small squares, as well as the imposing Vasco de Quiroga Square.
There are
several important religious buildings, the Basilica of Nuestra
Señora de la Salud (Our Lady of Health) the most outstanding and
well-known. Patzcuaro is distinguished by its religious fervor. Our
Magical Town is visited by the devout who come to visit the Virgin of
Health of Patzcuaro, venerated since the XVI century. She
was carved in cane paste by indigenous hands.

There also very old convents that
are well preserved, which makes you feel and live that time. Such is the
case of the current Casa de los Once Patios, former Convent of Santa
Catarina, from the 18th century, where you can find the
renowned Michoacan handicrafts, especially those from Michoacan.
Patzcuaro has a special charm that makes it
seem like a city without time, where past and present merge in a magical
atmosphere, so you have the feeling that life goes by at a slower and more
leisurely pace.
The vibrant soul of Patzcuaro is
the Vasco de Quiroga Square, a space that will take you back to colonial times.
It is surrounded by mansions and portals, where you will find hotels,
restaurants and craft stores.
Our very own Hotel Mansion Iturbe is located directly in front of the Vasco de Quiroga Square. It is a privileged location to enjoy this emblematic
space to the fullest.
Feel the magic of the Vasco de Quiroga Square, while enjoying its portals or walking through the square and its
beautiful gardens, where you can relax and watch the comings and goings of
people.
Patzcuaro not only enchants visitors with its
beauty that evokes the colonial era and its ancestral traditions, but also with
its unique and delicious gastronomy. Let yourself be conquered by the flavors
of Michoacán in Patzcuaro.
The cuisine of Patzcuaro has a
strong influence of indigenous and Spanish cultures. You can taste
delicious dishes from the traditional corundas, uchepos, charales, Tarascan
soup, churipo, atole de grano, enchiladas placeras, pasta ice
cream, and sparkling chocolate among others. You can find white
fish (seasonal).
