The National Copper Faire 2014 is set to begin August 9 in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán. It’s an event that shows off the rich artisanware of this Pueblo Magico (Magical Village), which is also known for its striking architecture, delicious food, and lovely, green surroundings

Located just 19 kilometers (12 miles) from Pátzcuaro, Santa Clara del Cobre was officially declared a Pueblo Magico in 2010. Year after year our guests at Hotel Mansion Iturbe visit this important faire – a real showcase of Mexican folk art.

Don’t miss the 49th annual National Cooper Faire, August 9-17! The local artisans have been working copper since before pre-Hispanic times – even before Don Vasco de Quiroga got there in the 16th century.

The basic tool of the artists of Santa Clara de Cobre is the humble hammer. Their constant companion is the high-fire forge.  With these two ancient implements, folk art of international acclaim is produced, little by Little.

This is one of the busiest weeks in Santa Clara del Cobre.  Besides the ubiquitous melodies of hammer against copper, the culinary delights are never far from mind; here you will discover some unforgettable dishes for which you will beg the recipes.

The Hammered Copper Competition is always a popular attraction, and you will find winners of it in the National Copper Museum, right off the main plaza.
