The celebrations of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Pátzcuaro are held for several days. December 12 is an important date in Mexico, when thousands of faithful flock to the sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe to pay tribute to the most revered Virgin in all Mexico.

The celebration, as usual, was very organized and orderly in the Sanctuary but, again, in a party atmosphere.

Throughout our magical village there were boys and girls everywhere dressed in traditional indigenous costumes, who came with relatives to ask a favor or give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The Sanctuary was beautifully lit, both inside and outside, standing out from the roofs of the surrounding houses. A lovely image of the Virgin of Guadalupe was placed outside, welcoming the faithful who come to venerate her.

The atrium, a popular venue, was the source of joyous music the day. The traditional castillo – an impressive fireworks display – was later set off in the atrium as part of the festivities.

In the streets, there were caravans of cars, touring our magical village in an atmosphere of celebration.

In the afternoon, the Virgin of Guadalupe made a tour of different streets, ending back at the sanctuary.
