Centro de Interpretación de la Ruta Don Vasco (Passage of Don Vasco) in Pátzcuaro


Hotel Mansión Iturbe recommends that you visit the Centro de Interpretación de la Ruta Don Vasco on your next visit to our Magical Village, Pátzcuaro.  It’s a large, new building right across the street from Don Chucho’s store, before you go over the railroad tracks.  The address is Calzada Ibarra No. 1, Colonia Revolución.

It’s open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00-17:30.

The space has been designed to increase our understanding of the wanderings and journeys of this legendary figure, who had such a huge impact on the communities of Michoacán.  Don Vasco de Quiroga (1470-1565) was a great humanist who became the first bishop of Michoacán, and was an indefatigable defender of the indigenous’ rights.

Don Vasco's Passage includes 15 municipalities and 40 localities of Michoacán; the passages of Don Vasco de Quiroga has generated an option of sustainable tourism, incorporating natural resources and cultural heritage, and enhancing regional development.

La Ruta Don Vasco, won the prize for the best international tourist product, and was overall winner of the 16th competition for “Best Product of active tourism", organized by the international tourism fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain in 2011.
