Today, in different communities of Michoacán, such as Tzintzuntzan, Santa Fe de la Laguna, or Aranza, to name just a few, have organized cooperatives to get ahead together in an organized way. They collaborate with each other for the common good and, of course, to generate the best sales possible. 

Working as artisans allows women to generate their own income and increase economic growth for the family. 

The artisanal tradition continues today, as we can see when we visit the communities and their workshops; we see grandmothers, daughters and granddaughters working any number of handicrafts.

Many of these artisans have managed to gain national and international recognition for their effort and dedication. However, the Covid pandemic has greatly decreased tourism and the suspension of artisan expositions.
