Pátzcuaro lights and sound show "Yo Soy Pátzcuaro"
“Yo Soy Pátzcuaro” – or “I Am Pátzcuaro” – is the
first major sound-and-light show celebrating Pátzcuaro, and it is being held
right smack in front of our very own Hotel Mansión Iturbe in the Plaza Vasco de
Quiroga.

The show – in addition to the impressive pyrotechnics
and lighting and drones – includes a cast of 100 Pátzcuaro youths, who had to
go through casting and rigorous preparation to make the cut for this exciting
festival.

Dozens of mojigangas – characters on stilts – and
other iconic characters of our magical town Patzcuaro dance across the Plaza Vasco de Quiroga, which becomes a multicolored stage; filled with music,
lights, and fireworks. Incredible.

It was a very well done journey through time. It touched on true historical figures of
Tariacuri, Tanganxoan, and Princess Eréndira, the venerable Don Vasco deQuiroga, the heroine of the Independence Doña Gertrudis Bocanegra, the
illustrious artist of contemporary art Alfredo Zalce, and even the very popular
dancing Viejitos.

Not to be left back in the 16th or 20th Century, we
also see images of Pátzcuaro on a giant screen, presenting images from
pre-Hispanic to present-day, including everything from gastronomy to
architecture of our magical village.

Throughout the event, the sky of downtown Pátzcuaro is
illuminated by lovely fireworks and multicolored lights, delighting thousands
of attendees.

This summer, be amazed by the “Yo Soy Pátzcuaro”
extravaganza which starts Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. Don’t be late – it starts on time, and lasts
no more than 45 minutes! The earlier you
get there, the better vantage point you will secure!
