In Pátzcuaro, the breathtaking installation in the Vasco de Quiroga Square is one of the most spectacular in Mexico.  And this year, Morelia, the capital of Michoacán, also hosts its own Artisan Nativity in the Plaza de Armas.

So there you have it!  Two great options for this Christmas season:
Pátzcuaro:
Installations of fifty-four larger-than-life figures (some measuring more than five meters tall) using material of about 180 Michoacán artisans (textiles, woodwork, and various fibers), representing the seven touristic destinations in Michoacán.  What’s more, there about 750 piñatas adorning streets leading to the Vasco de Quiroga Square.

Morelia:
The pieces in the Plaza de Armas – next to the cathedral of Morelia – were made in the town of Capula not far away.  Forty Capula families participated in the installation, creating a total of 7,000 pieces of clay, with 70 major figures designed and created to make up this original nativity.
