Sixth Annual Piano Festival in Patzcuaro

This year, the Sixth Annual Piano Festival in Patzcuaro kicks off March 7 and extends through March 28.   This popular event draws visitors from far and near.  It is made even more enjoyable with the arrival of spring – always a fine season to enjoy cultural events in Patzcuaro.


Piano Festival in Pátzcuaro

The primary venue for this event is the “TeatroEmperador Caltzóntzin” across from the Plaza Gertrudis Bocanegra (“Plaza Chica”), although several performances take place in the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita (“Ex Colegio”) and Centro de Cooperación Regional para la Educación de Adultos En América Latina y el Caribe (CREFAL).

The “Teatro Emperador Caltzóntzin” is next to the Public Library, just a couple blocks from Hotel Mansion Iturbe.

All the concerts will take place on Saturdays.  The schedule is as follows:

Gala Concerts (Teatro Emperador Caltzóntzin).  All Caltzóntzin performances are at 6:00 p.m.  Tickets for these four performances are $50 pesos at the door.

Educational Concerts (Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita y CREFAL)

March 11 and 17: Juan Carlos Quiroz González (Ex Colegio Jesuita, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., free admission.)

March 25: Juan Carlos Quiroz González (Jaime Lopez Bodet Auditorium at CREFAL, 10:00 a.m., free admission.)

Jazz Piano (Teatro Emperador Caltzontzin).  6:00 p.m., free admission.

March 25: Jerry Engelbach
